“Sonic Iconic”, hardback vinyl-sized book by Dave Homer. Limited edition of 150, hand signed and numbered. Pre-orders before Nov 30 receive a 12” signed print on archival art paper.

Some records stay with us for a lifetime. Sonic Iconic explores what happens when those records become the starting point for something new.

Featuring 50 illustrations by celebrated music industry creative director Dave Homer, Sonic Iconic is a coffee table book exploring the myriad ways music inspires visual imagery. Each piece is inspired by the lyrical and musical themes of the albums that have profoundly influenced his life.

The works are all contained within the shape of a record, and the book is sized exactly as a 12-inch vinyl record, making it the perfect addition to a vinyl collection or a coffee table. Each piece has been painstakingly drawn by hand, with no AI used to create the illustrations.

This is not a book about album covers, but rather the ideas and concepts that music can ignite.

Accompanied by short stories and personal anecdotes, Dave delves into why these albums hold such significance for him. With a life revolving around his twin passions of music and illustration, Sonic Iconic captures the fusion of these two art forms. The book documents his journey from a wide-eyed teenager first discovering his love for music to a highly successful industry creative whose obsession with music and art remains unchanged.

The albums explored include Patti Smith’s Horses, Nick Drake’s Pink Moon, PJ Harvey’s Rid of Me, The Clash’s London Calling, Massive Attack’s Mezzanine, You Am I’s Hourly Daily and Something for Kate’s Elsewhere for 8 Minutes.

With a foreword by Paul Dempsey, who describes Sonic Iconic as “a bewilderingly beautiful achievement.”
