It's back! You won't have to wait until December, Big Heavy Stuff's epic third album Size of the Ocean reaches its 25th Anniversary and we have something special planned. 

Love As Fiction Records originally reissued "SOTO" on vinyl for the first time back in 2023, it's been sold out for quite a while! The 2023 version was an expansive double LP with extra tracks on side D, two coloured records and a gatefold sleeve. 

For the 25th anniversary we are toning it back a little, the original album has been remastered for a single LP by Chris Hanszek and includes the original as released mix from 2001 (with a slight track order reshuffle to suit the single LP format). For something a little extra, the jacket artwork (reworked by Matt W. Bayes) will be printed on silver cello stock for the "silver jubilee" of the album. 

In 2023, Bernard Zuel wrote (on Size of the Ocean):

"Confidence is consistently checked against reality, force is consistently undercut by second thoughts, so that nothing ever steamrolls over listeners. Instead, we question everything, as if these are new arguments are being made and Atkinson’s voice is no more capable of answering the internal inquisitor then we are. 

It is not just that tempos feel slower than previously, but that space hangs on and around all the instruments. Even at their most assertive the guitars carry weight behind them; in the prettiest or most tender moments acoustics or piano lean into headwinds. And the melodies don’t shy away from our gaze."
Recorded in late '98, with legendary producer Wayne Connolly at the helm, Size of the Ocean was Big Heavy Stuff's most commercially successful album to date. “Size” saw the band refine their sound with “subtlety and restraint’ but still paired with their trademark guitar riffs, Greg Atkinson (Vocals, Guitar) took his melodies and lyrics to another level, at times the songs are paired back to enable them to come to the fore.
The Silver Jubilee edition showcases this classic album on vinyl and will be limited/while stocks last!
