Ammonia Mint 400 Vinyl - Production Update

Ammonia Mint 400 Vinyl - Production Update

Thanks everyone for your pre-orders of the Ammonia Mint 400 reissue on vinyl and the special edition tees, I've been overwhelmed by the response and the great feedback, as well as support from themusic.com.au and Hi Fi Way

Production of the album has commenced with Suitcase Records in Pinkenba QLD, they are a family run record production facility and have been a pleasure to deal with. Having the record pressed in Australia is also a benefit to our timeline. So far the lacquer cutting has been completed and this is on its way to the stamper house to produce the template that will make the album. Based on the pre-orders to date I will be finalising this run of records at 300 copies only. Suitcase will be preparing a marble effect record using pink as the base with light blue, black and white accents. The idea is to echo the colours on the orginal Mint 400 CD, I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out, it will also mean that each record is unique.

Similar to the Bluebottle Kiss Somnambulist Homesick Blues reissue we did last year, the original artwork retained by Sony is limited to a basic scan of the front cover. Because of this we've had to undertake a similar restoration project, firstly scanning an original LP in high resolution (thanks to Allan Balmont from Ammonia) and then working with a graphic designer, I've been pleased to work with Matt Bayes in Tasmania. Matt is a musician, 90's music fan and also a dedicated Something for Kate collector. Matt has done an amazing job on the art and it is looking mint. His work has included cleaning up the images and also recreating the typesetting and fonts again from scratch. It's going to look amazing in the new gatefold covers.

The special edition t-shirts will be produced here in Perth by the Project Print Co who are a specialist screenprinter. I will be only producing the quantity that is ordered so if you want one, make sure to order now, I will need to close off the t-shirt pre-order in mid March 2023. You can still order any of the other album designs (digital print) at any time.

I will also be stocking the album in a selection of independent record stores around Australia, so watch this space. Similarly if you have a recommendation in your town, let me know!

That's all for now but if you have any queries on your order at any time get in touch, thanks everyone for your support of this project.

Matt
